BBL® (BroadBand Light) is a state-of-the-art, broad-spectrum light technology developed by the American company Sciton, which can be used specifically to treat sun-induced skin damage, pigment spots, redness and superficial dilated blood vessels, as well as to improve the overall quality of the skin.
The light energy emitted by BBL® gently warms specific layers of the skin. Light of different wavelengths is selected according to the specific condition to be treated: the melanin accumulated in pigmented lesions and the haemoglobin found in dilated blood vessels specifically absorb the energy. The treatment also stimulates the skin’s natural regenerative processes and collagen production, thereby improving the skin’s texture and overall quality.
What makes the Forever Young BBL treatment unique is that it can be used not only to correct visible skin changes, but also, when carried out regularly, to help maintain the skin’s youthful appearance in the long term. According to research carried out at Stanford University, BBL treatments can cause gene expression patterns associated with skin ageing to shift towards those characteristic of younger skin.
As a result of the treatment pigment spots fade, and redness is reduced and the visibility of superficial dilations, and thus the the skin is more even, smoother, fresher and more radiant it takes on this appearance.

I use different wavelengths and settings to treat various problems. In addition to pigmented and vascular lesions, the blue light used to treat acne-prone skin targets the bacteria that play a role in the development of inflammation.
I always tailor the treatment to the condition and type of your skin, as well as the specific problem being treated. Where necessary, BBL® can also be combined with other treatments – such as ClearSilk®/ClearV®/SkinTyte technology – to achieve personalised and natural-looking results.
BBL® can be used on any area of the body. I most often treat areas that are particularly exposed to sunlight and therefore show the most signs of sun damage:
I always draw up a treatment plan based on the specific area, the condition of the skin and the problem to be treated.
Before undergoing BBL® treatment, it is important that your skin is not tanned. You should avoid sunbathing, solariums and the use of self-tanning products for at least two weeks prior to the treatment.
Before treatment, we will review the medicines you are taking, including any that may cause photosensitivity. Treatment must be postponed in the event of an active infection, inflammation or herpes. During pregnancy, or in the case of certain conditions associated with photosensitivity (such as epilepsy) or when taking photosensitising medication, treatment should not be carried out, or only following individual medical assessment.
We typically schedule BBL treatments for the autumn–winter and early spring periods.
The number of treatments required depends on the initial condition of the skin, the problem to be treated and the desired outcome. For certain conditions, even a single treatment can produce a dramatic improvement, whilst in other cases a course of treatments is recommended.
Where necessary, BBL® can be combined with ClearSilk® laser treatment or SkinTyte-II treatment to tighten the skin, or with the Clear V laser for the comprehensive treatment of visible dilated blood vessels.
The Forever Young BBL™ concept also includes regular annual maintenance treatments, which are designed to preserve the skin’s quality and youthful appearance in the long term.
Before the treatment, I will cleanse your skin and then fit you with special protective goggles. I will apply a light-conducting gel to the treatment area, after which I will deliver a series of light pulses to the skin using the BBL® handpiece.
The treatment head’s built-in cooling system protects the skin’s surface and reduces the sensation of heat during the flashes. The treatment is generally well tolerated, and local anaesthesia is not usually required.
The duration of the treatment is generally 20–60 minutes, depending on the size of the treated area and the chosen protocol.
Immediately after treatment, you may experience mild redness, warmth or a burning sensation, which usually subsides within a few hours.
The treated pigmented patches will temporarily become darker, then gradually fade over the following days (5–14 days). You may use make-up after the treatment if necessary.
After treatment, it is particularly important to use adequate sun protection. Avoid direct sunlight and sunbeds, and use SPF 50+ sun cream every day. Consistent sun protection is not only important for post-treatment recovery, but also plays a crucial role in maintaining the results achieved in the long term.
